Do you agree that foreplay plays an important role in getting you into the mood? When it comes to selling your product or service, it’s no different. You got to get your potential client into the right state of mind to buy from you. Here the foreplay is the connection you have with them.

I see so many small business owners struggle with establishing this connection because they are going about it the wrong way.

You see, it’s all about PERSONAL contact, yet so many people just drop a random post in a Facebook group and then move on to the next, doing the same thing over and over again. Then they wonder why nobody is taking them up on their offer.

What they are not doing is establishing a PERSONAL CONNECTION with their audience.

To do that, you got to be clear on WHO your people are in the first place.

You got to take a real interest in what’s going on with them, you got to listen and you got to engage in meaningful conversations not just once but continuously over time.

Think of the sale as an intimate process just like you would want to get to know the person first before you go all the way, somebody will want to get to know you and what you stand for before committing to working with you or buying your product.

This will serve you two-fold:

1. You’re starting a relationship.

Think of it as a first date. You’re on your best behavior and when the person says to you right off the bat: “I want to f**k you! , that’s a pretty big turn off, right? Well,it’s a turn off for your prospects if you’re shoving something down their throats without getting to know them first.

2. You’re building a connection.

Meaning you’re getting to know your audience intimately, you learn what they struggle with, what problems they have and what solutions they desire.

When you’re dating a person, you’re feeling them out, you’re getting to know them, their wants, needs, what they are all about BEFORE you go the rest of the way. This is what your prospects are doing with you. They are getting to know you. Are you the right person for them, do you have what they are looking for…?

It’s from this understanding of intimately knowing your audience that you fine-tune your product or service to make it truly irresistible and then you confidently start talking about it to the RIGHT people who are in a position to buy from you.

If you’re experiencing a disconnect in attracting the right prospects or you don’t know what the issue is why nobody is taking you up on your offer, I guarantee you it’s one of 3 things or a combination of them.

1. You don’t know your audience. This is the starting point for everything you do.

You got to NAIL it otherwise it’s going to cost you time, money and frustration.

2. Your offer is weak.

You got to turn up that sizzle to give them EXACTLY what they want, what turns them.

3. You don’t know HOW to talk to them so they HEAR you.

Start speaking their language. Listen to what they are asking for and give them just that.

Foreplay is key for making sales because people buy from those they like, know and trust. Your foreplay is to fine-tune your message and your offer so you are in complete sync with what your prospects truly want.
