Hey, I’d love your input on this…

Do you ever get that question from family, friends, and people who want to pick your brain on something because you are the expert in the matter?

I can tell you many business owners do and a lot of them agree and say yes to having their brains picked because hey it’s just a quick phone call and it’s a friend or somebody you know…

That’s how women leave thousands of dollars on the table in their business every year because they are more concerned about what people say or think about them than they want to be successful.

Hear me on this!

Your time is the most valuable asset you have and you are not getting it back.

Those quick phone calls have a tendency to run over.

Your expertise is priceless.

This is how you make a living.

It’s your bread and butter and if you dish it out, people must pay for it.

I was in a Clubhouse room the other night where a realtor shared how she was hired by a friend to find their house and as it was closing that friend asked if she’d forego her commission in the name of friendship…

Say what?

She had a really good answer.

Do you not want me to eat for the rest of the year?

And she walked away from the deal and the friendship.

Now that’s boundaries.

And that’s what you must have in business otherwise you won’t be in business long.

Next time somebody asks you for your input, tell them you’d be happy to help and name your fee.

If this makes you uncomfortable, one of your saboteurs is at work.

I like to call it

THE UNDERVALUED OVER GIVER

Here is what you can do to kick it to the curb.

  1. Own your worth.
  2. Set a boundary.
  3. Have 0 expectations.
  4. Rinse and repeat to build the muscle.

And I guarantee you pretty soon this will become second nature.

THE BENEFIT

You are being of service while being compensated for your expertise which allows your business to thrive, so you can help more people.

You are teaching the person who’s asking a valuable lesson.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

Do you relate?

P.S. If you recognize yourself in the above, I hear you because this used to be me until I broke the underlying pattern responsible for this self-sabotaging behavior.

I recently taught a workshop where I showed the attendees how they can break their own patterns that mess with their success in life, love, and business.
