Yesterday I did something I’d never thought I’d do.
For the first time in my life, I was breathing underwater.

THIS MEANT FACING ONE OF MY DEEPEST FEARS FROM CHILDHOOD…
When I was 6 years old, my mom and I visited my stepfather on board a big ship in South Africa.
We were looking forward to two weeks of vacation cruising around the horn of Africa.

THREE DAYS LATER WE SHIPWRECKED AND GOT EVACUATED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT DURING A FEROCIOUS STORM.

I was terrified.
As we descended into one of the tiny rescue boats that was being tossed around in the rough sea, my fear increased.

I WAS AFRAID TO BE THROWN INTO THE WATER, SEPARATED FROM MY PARENTS AND DROWN ALONE IN THE DARKNESS.

Yesterday, I leaned into my edge, faced my fear of “going under”, let go of control, trusted and stayed in faith that all was going to be ok – and it was.

I was with an expert instructor who guided me every step of the way in a safe and controlled environment.

This got me thinking because…
We face all kinds of fears in life and especially in business when we do a thing we’ve never done before.
It can be terrifying to step out so much so that a lot of people literally get paralyzed and never step into the opportunity to do what they came here to do.

I SEE THIS COME UP SO MUCH IN MY WEEKLY CONVERSATIONS WITH WOMEN WHO ARE LOOKING TO MAKE A BIG TRANSITION IN THEIR LIVES…

After a successful corporate career or after the demise of a marriage, they feel an awakening inside, a calling to embark on a new path to share their divine gifts with the world.

What’s holding them back is F.E.A.R.

Fear of becoming visible and owning their power
Fear of loss of financial stability
Fear of being too old to start something new
Fear of what other people might say or think about them
Fear of what if … it doesn’t work
Fear of failure and believe it or not fear of success as in losing their loved ones or friends…

All of these fears are put forth by your subconscious mind in an attempt to not upset the ‘status quo’ of the same programming it’s been carrying out for years so that you stay in your comfort zone.
Hear me on that!

EVEN THOUGH THE FEAR MIGHT APPEAR SO REAL TO YOU, IT IS NOT.

It’s false evidence appearing real.
How do you get over it?
By staying connected to your TRUTH and
By acknowledging it and then continuing to move forward.
That’s really the ONLY way.

YOU MUST BELIEVE IN YOUR ABILITY THAT YOU CAN DO WHATEVER IT IS THAT IS STIRRING YOUR SOUL.

You must trust the process, stay in FAITH and in the continuous expectation of reaching your desired outcome.

Is it going to be easy?
You bet, it won’t always be easy.

Will you get it right on the first try?
Probably not.

Remember, you’re doing a thing you’ve never done before and you have no idea what’s going to come up for you.

That’s why it’s so important to hire an expert, a coach or a mentor who you trust and who can guide you on this path, just like my diving instructor Stein did with me yesterday.

IT’S AN INVESTMENT IN YOU, IT’S HONORING YOURSELF, SAYING TO YOURSELF

I’m worth this.

I deserve doing this.

My dream is worth this.

I have a purpose to fulfill in this lifetime.

If you’re struggling with fears around stepping into who you really are, doing what you secretly always wanted to do, setting sail on a new path, I’d love help.
