Are you tweetable? There are 3 things that make your message highly shareable and you want to make sure you incorporate them when you sit down to write your marketing copy. When your message gets shared organically you automatically increase your reach, it gets you in front of a bigger audience which means more opportunities to connect with your prospects and subsequently more sales.

One of the cool perks of working in the movie industry besides the occasional premiere tickets and meeting stars is to get access to the latest Social Media trends and marketing data as soon as its available.

So, when I came upon this information yesterday, I knew I had to let you know because this can really help you when you sit down and craft your message.

A recent study revealed how well the commercials in this year’s Super Bowl did in terms of being shared on Social Media. If you are not from the US, this is the annual (American) football extravaganza where you have to pay up to 5 million(!) dollars to place your ad in the broadcast. INSANE I know….

Here’s the thing, the learnings from this study are absolutely vital for you to implement when you craft your message.

Imagine these companies are spending millions of dollars on an ad and having to compete with a bunch of others who do the same.

They’ve got to turn the vavoom factor on for the audience to not only remember it but to also being willing to share it. A tall order at hand and a lot at stake.

The same is true for your, if you were to run a Facebook Ad for example. Of course, your budget is smaller but you still got tons of skin in the game. There are lots of ads out there from people who do the same thing as you do, so how is yours going to be the one that stands out and gets shared?

Here is the secret sauce that this study found. The top tweeted ads during the Super Bowl broadcast were

  1. Easy to understand
  2. Memorable
  3. And made people smile in other words they connected with them emotionally

Now, let’s break this down: Whether you are running an ad or writing marketing copy for your product or service, here is what to keep in mind at all times as I mentioned in the Master Your Message Challenge .

You have to speak your people’s language so they understand at first glance what you are talking about, otherwise you lose them. (Remember the 3 second rule.)

You must include a HOOK that is memorable (this could be sharing part of your own story as you address one of your audience’s pressing problems.)

And you have to connect with them EMOTIONALLY so they feel moved to take the desired action.

When your message gets shared you automatically widen your impact, your influence and ultimately your potential to grow your income.

Think about what would make your message shareable or a tweetable?
